Located in the Media Studio in ATS, the Digital Media Sandbox is designed to provide Franklin & Marshall faculty with opportunities to see demonstrations of instructional technology applications, to ask questions of technology professionals, and to play with new "leading-edge" digital media technologies in an environment that promotes hands-on experimentation.
The Sandbox contains a variety of the following technologies:
- digital still and video cameras
- digital audio input devices
- portable computing devices including portable text ,portable computers, e-Books, and hand-held devices
- computer remote control devices
- 'streaming' media technologies
- video and audio conferencing technologies
- digital storage and multi-mode delivery technologies
ATS hosts informal faculty gatherings called "Technology Demonstrations" within the Media Studio's Digital "Sandbox.". These events are focused around broad instructional technology and encourage hands-on experimentation. More information on upcoming Coffee topics is available online.
The Digital Media Sandbox is located within the Media Studio in ATS, Stager Hall, Room 009. For more information about the Media Studio in ATS, please contact the Director of ATS.
NOTE: The hardware and software that constitute the Digital Media Sandbox are acquired from a variety of sources including, but not limited to, commercial vendors, College offices, academic departments, and associated College programs. This collection of new technology is fluid and changes periodically; is not available for use outside of the Media Studio. Consequently, this equipment is not included in the supported suite of software and programs at the College beyond the intended purpose of the Digital Media Sandbox.
