Bb Enrollment Options

Franklin & Marshall faculty using Blackboard courses at the College currently have four options for "populating," or enrolling students within a course:

1. Enable Self-Enrollment
2. Manual enrollment of each student
3. Batch enrollment of students from myDiplomat
4. Creating a batch file for enrolling non F&M students

Enable Self-Enrollment
1. From within the Control Panel of your Blackboard course, select Settings under Course Options.
2. Select Enrollment Options.
3. Set the desired options for student enrollment.
4. Click Submit.

Manually Enroll Each Student
1. From within the Control Panel of your Blackboard course, select Enroll User under User Management.
2. Search the existing Blackboard @ F&M user index BY LAST NAME for each individual student you wish to enroll. You can also search alphabetically.
3. Once the student has been located in the index, click in the Add check box for the correct student and then click Submit.

Batch Student Enrollment for Existing F&M Students
1. Download a Class Roster for Importing into Blackboard from MyDiplomat.
2. From within the Control Panel of your Blackboard course, select Batch Create Users for Course under User Management. Be sure to read the instructions.
3. Browse and select the Downloaded Roster from MyDiplomat.
4. Confirm that comma is selected as the delimiter.
5. Click Submit.
6. Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm the students are properly added to your course.

Create a Batch File for Enrollment of non-F&M Students
1. Use Microsoft Word to create and save as TEXT a file following the format below:

Login ID, User Last Name, User First Name, Email, Password, Role

2. All six fields are required. Fields must be quoted using double quotes.

Note: A null value; that is, two double quotes ("") is used in the password field.

Note: The Role field is normally "s" for student. Valid roles are: s (student), t (teaching assistant), p (instructor), g (grader), and b (course builder).

3. Hit the Return key after each entry.

4. Save the file as a .txt file.
