Software and Peripheral Requests

Innovative computer software and the expanding array of peripheral devices are increasingly important to the successful integration of technology into teaching and learning at Franklin & Marshall. In support of these challenges, the Committee on Academic Technology solicits requests annually from full-time faculty members for computer software and technology peripherals in support of teaching and learning.

2008-09 Application Deadline: November 14, 2008

The Committee reviews requests in an effort to establish a basis of need for making informed recommendations regarding the allocation of funds and/or the purchase of site licenses for software and hardware. These resources are finite; funding is not guaranteed. In order to assist the Committee in determining priorities, statements describing why these new purchases are necessary and why existing software or hardware will not suffice are requested.

These are one-time funding solutions. Individual awards will be funded for up to $500.00. The committee will review collaborative faculty proposals for greater amounts on a case-by-case basis. Software and/or peripherals acquired through the Faculty Computer SOFTWARE and PERIPHERAL REQUESTS program will remain the property of the College. Requests will not be considered for faculty desktop computer upgrades or other needs that could be attained through alternative funding activities of the College.

Support for any computer software and/or peripheral funded through this initiative will fall to the requesting faculty member. Special end-user training, student use, maintenance, or other support issues are assumed by the requesting faculty member. Future versions of software or replacement for damaged or broken peripherals will not be automatically covered by the College.

NOTE: The Committee on AcademicTechnology (CAT) will solicit Requests for Proposals from full-time College faculty via e-mail 3-4 weeks prior to the program deadline.
